The Library of Gray was founded in 1799 after the confiscation of the properties of the Catholic Church. The library begins to be located in an old convent before moving to a proper building adjoining the city hall in 1859. Since then the library is divided in two parts, one is dedicated to old documents that cannot be borrowed and one other is dedicated to modern documents that can be borrowed. ()
