Église Notre-Dame-d'Izel-Vor, La Forêt-Fouesnant
Facts and practical information
The church of Notre-Dame d'Izel-Vor is the parish church of La Forêt-Fouesnant in the Finistère department, in the region of Brittany, France.
This church built in large part during the first half of the 16th century is dedicated to "Notre-Dame d'Izel-Vor". It is of a typical Cornish gothic style. We find the dates carved on the walls: 1538 under the porch, 1628 above the baptistery.
The interior of the church is remarkable for the richness of its furnishings: the granite and wood baptismal fonts, the painting of the Rosary, the high altar and its altarpiece, which are from the 17th century. Polychrome statues of local saints complete the decor.
Its 15th century calvary was used as a pulpit on busy days, which means that the square was much larger than it is today.
This monument has been classified as a historical monument since June 8, 1914.
