When Is the Best Time To Visit French Guiana?
The answer to the question of what is the best month to visit French Guiana depends on what you are interested in doing during your stay. Here you can see an overview of each month and its typical weather conditions.
Climate of French Guiana
French Guiana lies in a humid equatorial climate zone characterized by high air temperatures and abundant year-round rainfall. The formation of a humid and hot climate is influenced by the Southern Equatorial Current washing up on its coasts.
Year-round temperatures fluctuate between 24°C and 28°C, with slight diurnal fluctuations. Humidity remains high at all times at around 80%.
Precipitation is high, around 3500 mm - 4000 mm. Only on the southern edges, within the Guiana Highlands, the rains are slightly less, and rainfall does not exceed 2000 mm per year.
In French Guiana we can distinguish two seasons - rainy and dry. The rainy season begins in January and lasts until July, with intense downpours and thunderstorms being common. The remaining months from August to December include the dry season, during which rainfall can also occur, but is not as frequent and intense as in the rainy season.
