The Mosque of Kiuchuk Hassan or Yali Mosque is located in Chania and is a work of Islamic art.
It dates back to the second half of the 17th century. It was built in honor of the first guard of Chania, Kiuchuk Hassan. The mosque has a cubic building covered by a large hemispherical dome without a dome supported by four elaborate stone bows. From the west and north side it is surrounded by a gallery housed by six small drums without drum. The Kiuchuk Hassan mosque or Yali Jamii, as it was said, was a work of Armenian architect who had built another like in the village of Spaniakos in Selinos.
The mosque, in the courtyard of which there were palm trees and tombs of pashades and generals, stopped its operation in 1923 and today is restored to be a place of events.
