Bassaj - an archaeological position in Greece, in Arkadia in Peloponnese, about 14 km from Adritsana.
It is located here in 1986 on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the temple of Apollon, erected according to the design of Iktinos in the fifth century BC The temple was designed in such a way that all Greek architectural orders were represented in it: Doric, Ionian and Corinthian. The Temple of Apollon in Bassaj is considered the second best preserved temple in Greece. Nominally restored since 1965. However, more serious work was undertaken only in 1982, which continues to this day, and the date of their completion remains unknown. Similarly to the history of Parthenon, the original elements of the decorations of the temple rest in dozens of museums and in numerous private collections, outside Greece. The building is covered with a tent that protects against weather conditions, which is to last until the maintenance works are completed. The facility was made available for sightseeing.
