Facts and practical information
The Church of the Heart of Jesus in Városmajor - a Catholic Church, located in Budapest, in the Városmajor district, at Csaba Utca 5.
The temple is the first modernist church in the capital of Hungary. Built in 1932–1934, it was immediately criticized, especially from conservative Catholic circles. He stood next to a smaller, late -session church from 1921–1923, which became too small for parish needs. The old church referred to the architecture of Transylvania.
The author of the plans of the new temple was Aladár árkaay, and it was built by his son Bertalan. In 1937 a high campaign was added. After another few years, both temples were combined with an arcaded connector. Stained glass windows were designed by Lili árkayné Sztehlo. Vilmos Aba-Novák is the author of frescoes. In front of the church stands a monument to Cardinal József Mindszenty. Particularly noteworthy is the entrance portal, decorated with monumental reliefs of angels. Similar motifs were placed on the choir balustrade.
