Facts and practical information
The only bear sanctuary in Central Europe opened in Veresegyháza on 24 November 1998. Dozens of bears live in the 3.5-hectare enclosure. There are also wolves and lions in the park. The number and species composition of the animals is constantly changing, as the home is regularly enriched in a variety of ways, including gifts from individuals and institutions. The park, especially the ponds, is regularly visited by a variety of wild birds.
The home is owned and maintained by the municipality of Veresegyháza.
