Facts and practical information
Susiya, is a location in the southern Hebron Governorate. It the site of an ancient Jewish village with extensive remains from the Second Temple and Byzantine periods, near the ruins of an archeologically notable synagogue, repurposed after the Muslim conquest as a mosque. A Palestinian village Khirbet Susya was established near the site in the 1830s. The village lands extend over 300 hectares under multiple private Palestinian ownership. In 1983 an Israeli settlement of Susya was established near the archaeological site. ()
