Kiribati is located in a maritime equatorial climate zone tempered by the trade winds. The weather is characterized by high temperatures oscillating between 27°C - 32°C and rainfall occurring throughout the year. Rainfall varies widely, ranging from about 700 mm (Line Islands) to 3,000 mm (Gilbert Islands), with some areas experiencing periodic droughts.
