Sumatran serow

The Sumatran serow, also known as the southern serow, is a captivating goat-antelope inhabiting the mountain forests of the Thai-Malay Peninsula and Sumatra. This distinctive species was previously classified under the broad category of "mainland serow" which included all mainland serow subspecies. However, the Sumatran serow is now facing significant threats due to habitat destruction and hunting. As a result of these dangers, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has listed the Sumatran serow as a vulnerable species, underscoring the urgent need for conservation efforts to protect this extraordinary animal.
