Facts and practical information
The Evangelical-Reformed church in Riga-the former Calvinist Temple located in Riga at ul. Mārstļu 10.
The Calvinist parish in Riga was established as the second after Mitawa parish reformed in modern Latvia. The church design was made by architect Christopher Meinert. The construction of the temple was completed in 1733.
Initially, the church was visited mainly by German and Dutch families living in Riga. In 1938 Riga Kalwińska Parish had about 1000 faithful, mostly of German origin.
At the beginning of World War II, the church building was handed over by the municipal authorities to the Lutherans as a result of leaving the city by the local Calvinist community. In Soviet times, the Moravian brothers prayed in the temple until the building was taken away by the state in 1964.
