Gegabrastos Šv. Nikolajaus cerkvė
Facts and practical information
Church of St. Mikołaj - Orthodox church in Gegabard.
The church was built in 1896–1899 for the needs of Russian nationality colonists, brought to the village in the 1860s. As a temple of the local parish, it replaced the house chapel used since 1889. The initiator of her hill was the Archbishop of Vilnius and Lithuanian Hieronim, who met the villagers in 1896. It is a wooden temple, with a double -breasted iconostasis in the interior.
In 1947, the church in Gegabard was registered as an active Orthodox temple. In the 1950s, at the expense of the parish, it was thoroughly renewed and on August 8, 1954 devoted again.
Currently due to a small number of faithful, services in the temple take place several times a year.
