Facts About Humblot's heron
The Humblot's heron, also known as the Madagascar heron, is an exceptional bird endemic to Madagascar. These herons are predominantly found along the northern and western coastlines, around Lake Alaotra, as well as in the Comoro Islands and Mayotte.
Regrettably, the Humblot's heron is classified as endangered, with an estimated 1,500 mature individuals remaining in the wild. Alarmingly, their population continues to decline. This downward trend is primarily driven by poaching and habitat destruction.
