Birch Memorial Clock Tower, Ipoh

The Birch Memorial Clock Tower stands as an emblem of heritage in the heart of Ipoh, Malaysia. Erected in 1909, this historical monument serves as a tribute to James W.W. Birch, the first British Resident of the state of Perak. Each of the tower's four angles is graced with a figurine, symbolizing the virtues of loyalty, justice, patience, and fortitude. Above these figures, the clock, with its four faces, allows the time to be seen from any direction in the surrounding area. The clock's mechanism, originally operated manually, has since been converted to an electric system.
