When Is the Best Time To Visit Maldives?

The answer to the question of what is the best month to visit Maldives depends on what you are interested in doing during your stay. Here you can see an overview of each month and its typical weather conditions.

Tourist Season in Maldives

The Maldives, due to its high air and water temperatures, is a destination that can be visited all year round. However, the most favorable time to visit includes the months of the dry season from November to April, when rainfall is low and cloudless skies are conducive to beachcombing. It's also worth remembering that during the Christmas and New Year holidays the number of tourists increases dramatically, and prices skyrocket.

Between May and October there is increased rainfall and thunderstorms, but they are not so onerous as to make rest impossible. We can still count on a lot of sunshine, and lower prices also make this a popular period among tourists.

  • Observing marine life in the Maldives (coral reef, underwater animal and plant life) is possible all year round.
  • The period between monsoons (autumn and spring) brings about two weeks of windless weather. This is a good time for those wishing to relax on the beaches, except for those engaged in water sports for which a gust of wind is required (sailing and windsurfing).
