Fortín Álvarez is a fortification of colonial Mexico erected in Acapulco, Guerrero during the 17th century. It is located at the top of the Cerro de La Mira, to the west of the city. This fort bears the surname Álvarez in honor of Juan Álvarez Hurtado, liberal general and militant -along with Ignacio Comonfort- of the Ayutla Revolution.
Fortín Álvarez is known for being the site where the liberal Diego Álvarez Benítez along with his father Juan Álvarez Hurtado tried to defend the port of Acapulco from the French squadrons that bombarded the city in early 1863 during the second French intervention in Mexico.
