The Mayan Museum of Cancun is an exhibition space dedicated to Mayan culture located at kilometer 16.5 of Kukulcan Boulevard, in the Hotel Zone of Cancun in Quintana Roo, Mexico. It is located in the area of the archaeological site of San Miguelito, a few meters from the Nichupte lagoon and the cost of access includes the visit to the archaeological site of San Miguelito, forming a total area of just over 8 hectares. The museum buildings are eight meters high and include three volumes of exhibition pavilions.
It houses one of the most significant archaeological collections of the Mayan culture in Mexico, as it not only includes pieces of the greatest relevance of the State of Quintana Roo, but also a selection of emblematic pieces from the Mayan sites of Palenque, Chichen Itza, Comalcalco, among other sites represented.
The museum and the archaeological site are operated by the National Institute of Anthropology and History of Mexico. The architectural design was made by the Mexican architect Alberto García Lascurain, while the museographic script was made by the archaeologist Adriana Velázquez Morlet.
