El Cimatario National Park is a Mexican nature reserve located in the state of Querétaro between the borders of the municipalities of Huimilpan and Querétaro, the park and the hill are located on what was once, about 5 million years ago a volcano which has remained inactive and shows no signs of activity.
This national park became a protected area by decree on July 7, 1982, for being a portion of territory representative of diverse ecosystems, possessing a great biological and historical richness and being a site that produces environmental benefits to the central region of the country and mainly to the entire metropolitan area of the city of Queretaro.
With particular importance in the moderation of the regional climate and water balance; besides containing important ecosystems with flora and fauna representative of the region.
It is currently administered by the Government of the State of Queretaro, with a staff of approximately 15 people, consisting of a coordinator, a forester, guides, a driver, a veterinarian, assistants and security personnel.
