The Venustiano Carranza lighthouse is a building consisting of three elements formed by a lighthouse, a museum and administrative offices, and it is located in the port of Veracruz. Its construction of neoclassical style began in 1902 by the engineer Salvador Echegaray and was inaugurated in 1910 by the then president of Mexico, Porfirio Diaz. On December 3, 1914 the port of Veracruz was declared as capital of the Mexican Republic, being this the seat of the constitutionalist government of Venustiano Carranza. Since May 21, 1935 it is the headquarters of the Third Military Naval Zone of the Mexican Navy. As additional information the lighthouse has a clock and the small square in front of it has a statue to Venustiano Carranza.
