The Municipal Palace of Toluca is a building where the offices of the Municipal Presidency of that city, capital of the state of Mexico, are located.
The building was constructed on the land occupied by the Spanish cemetery of the Franciscan Convent of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción. It was projected at the initiative of the then municipal president, Jesús Fuentes y Muñiz, approval was obtained on July 11, 1872, it began immediately and was completed in 1883.
The façade of the building originally had a neoclassical style, but in the three-year period 1967-1969 it was modified in order to unify the public buildings that make up the Plaza de los Mártires complex. The portico is composed of three arches, which give access to the vestibule.
As of the date of this article, the building houses the offices of the Municipal Presidency, the offices of the councilors, the offices of the union, the Secretary of the City Hall and some others.
It has two solemn rooms: the Hall of Presidents and the Hall of Councils, the latter decorated in a late nineteenth century style and has portraits of national and local historical figures on its walls.
