The Garden of San Marcos, is located in the heart of the Barrio de San Marcos. It is a public space, icon of the City of Aguascalientes, also of the famous National Fair of San Marcos. It houses various types of plant and tree species. It has paths throughout the garden. In its center there is a kiosk, where under it there are shows with fountains and multicolored lights. Something that characterizes the San Marcos Garden is its balustrade made of pink quarry stone, which completely surrounds the garden, except for the famous four entrances that are in the center of the four sides of it.
On the occasion of the 434th Anniversary of the City of Aguascalientes, the Garden was for a while in the first stage of a major renovation. The re inauguration took place on October 22, 2009, on the anniversary of the founding of the Villa de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción de las Aguas Calientes. Some of the most notorious changes were the placement of various statues throughout the Garden, representing the life of those settlers of the town of San Marcos, statues from flower sellers and children playing, to cockfighters and bullfighters. Also something that characterized the new image of the garden was the changing multicolored lights that were applied to the statues.
