Space Expo, Noordwijk

Space Expo is a permanent space exhibition located in the Dutch town of Noordwijk, province of South Holland, adjacent to Katwijk. Also, Space Expo is the official visitor center of ESTEC. The debriefing of a large number of space travelers also takes place here.
The exhibition was opened in 1990 by Queen Beatrix and Prince Friso. In October 2004 the Space Expo received its millionth visitor. The exhibition includes realia and models, is partly interactive and provides answers to questions such as: How does gravity work?, What is a black hole?, What are the functions of satellites?, What space missions have been and are currently being worked on?
In 2018, the exhibition space includes a section on the historical highlights of space travel, a section on Dutch astronaut André Kuipers, ESA astronaut, a satellite plaza, attention to the Ariane rocket, a recreated ISS, a Soyuz simulator and a life-size model of the Moon landing.
On weekends and vacations, the 'Space Shuttle', a tour formerly known as the 'Space Train', can be used at an additional cost. This is a tour of development and test areas in some of the buildings of the European Space Research and Technology Centre|ESTEC, the technical 'heart' of the European Space Agency.
