Stichting AAP, Almere
Facts and practical information
AAP Foundation is an organization that takes in animals in need and advocates for better animal welfare laws throughout Europe. For example, animals have been illegally smuggled into a country or have been dumped after private individuals can no longer afford to care for them. Many other animals that arrive at AAP come from distressed animal parks, laboratory animals and circuses. The animals that come to AAP must first go into quarantine for a period of at least 6 weeks for an extensive medical examination and treatment plan. Unless the animal naturally prefers to live alone, the animal will then be reunited with peers at one of AAP's departments. When the animals have recovered, a place is found where they can stay for the rest of their lives.
The foundation is based on the De Kemphaan country estate in Almere and depends on sponsors and donors. Recipients of Air Miles are requested to donate them to AAP Foundation. Also, there are many empty cartridges and used cell phones collected annually with the fee benefiting Foundation AAP.
