Molen A, Broek op Langedijk
Facts and practical information
The Twuyvermolen in Sint Pancras is polder mill A of Geestmerambacht, which together with 10 other mills drained section A of the polder on the Raaksmaatsboezem.
The mill was built in 1663 as the last extension of the polder's drainage capacity. This was necessary because the Beverkoog, a part of the polder, received an under-drainage. Via locks, this mill functioned as both a drainage for the Beverkoog and for the Geestmerambacht. This double function probably lasted until 1871, in which year the Beverkoog got its own drainage on the Raaksmaatsboezem.
The mill came to a standstill in 1926 and the running gear was removed. In 1974, the sails were renewed. Between 2014 and 2018, the mill was restored by the owner and made mill-ready.
