De Wijhese Molen
Facts and practical information
De Wijhese Molen is a corn mill in Wijhe in the Dutch province of Overijssel.
The mill was built in 1703 and is therefore the oldest surviving octagonal post-mill in the province of Overijssel. The mill remained in operation until the Second World War, but at the beginning of the war the sails and the scaffolding disappeared from the mill. Since 1977, the mill has been owned by the De Wijhese Molen Foundation. On behalf of this foundation, the mill was restored to its grinding capacity in 1979.
The mill's rods have a length of 24.30 meters and are equipped with the Old Dutch fencing with sails. The mill is grinding with one pair of grinding stones.
