Facts and practical information
Edah was originally a partnership of four regionally operating grocers in North Brabant that grew into a national Dutch supermarket chain. The first partnership dates back to 1910, a sequel was established in 1917, with its headquarters in Helmond. At its peak the company had 286 supermarkets, of which about 60 were of the 'Lekker & Laag' formula. Partly due to a price war with Albert Heijn, owner Laurus was forced to sell all Edah supermarkets. Only the Edah Museum in Helmond remains.
