Koogerpark, Zaandam
Facts and practical information
The Koogerpark, originally the "Kooger Wandelpark", is a small park in Koog aan de Zaan in the municipality of Zaanstad in the Dutch province of North Holland. The park was created in 1926 on the site of the paper mill "De Jonge Zwaan", which was demolished in 1855. The House with the iron bridge standing on the site was moved to a spot west of the park where it has housed the Mill Museum since 1928.
Since 1927 there was a bandstand in the park which was demolished in 1971. In 2012 a new one was built called the "Duyvis Wiener Pavilion".
In the park, since 1946, a monument commemorates resistance fighters from Koog aan de Zaan and Zaandijk. It was moved in 2001, within the park.
