Climate of New Caledonia
New Caledonia lies in a zone of mild sub-equatorial climate. The weather is characterized by high air and water temperatures and rainfall of 1,000 mm - 2,500 mm, conditioned by the monsoon circulation. On the islands we can distinguish between the hot season and the temperate season.
The hot season lasts from November to April. Air temperature then reaches 26°C - 30°C, and monsoon winds bring an increase in rainfall (December-March), it becomes sultry and humid, thunderstorms are common.
The temperate season lasts from May to October. These months are slightly cooler, with temperatures ranging from 17°C - 23°C, and rains are sporadic.
