Facts About Kiwiburger
The Kiwiburger is a distinctive hamburger available at McDonald's in New Zealand. This burger features a four-ounce beef patty, a griddled egg, beetroot, tomato, lettuce, cheese, onions, mustard, and ketchup, all nestled in a toasted bun. The concept for the Kiwiburger originated with Bryan Old, a McDonald's franchisee, who aimed to revive the nostalgic flavors of the classic New Zealand hamburger that predated McDonald's arrival in the country in 1976.
Bryan initially tested the Kiwiburger in his five Hamilton restaurants, where it was so successful that it was added to the national McDonald's menu in 1991. Since then, the Kiwiburger has made several returns. It reappeared on the menu in May 2007 and again in August 2011, coinciding with the Rugby World Cup, as part of McDonald's special Kiwi Menu.
