Facts About Dundicut
Dundicut peppers are small, round, and dark red chili peppers originating from Sindh, Pakistan. Locally referred to as "gol lal mirch" these peppers are a variety of either *Capsicum frutescens* or *Capsicum annuum*. Typically sold dried, Dundicut peppers resemble Scotch bonnet peppers in size and flavor, although they are less spicy and belong to a different species.
A renowned U.S. spice vendor describes Dundicut peppers as "quite hot, with a full-bodied, complex flavor." Just one crushed pepper can significantly enhance the heat and flavor of a dish intended for two people. Their heat level ranges from 30,000 to 65,000 on the Scoville scale.
Interestingly, Dundicut peppers are also incorporated into parrot food, appreciated for their distinctive flavor and moderate heat level.
