Facts About Food street
A food street is a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly zone in Pakistani cities teeming with restaurants, cafes, traditional rooftop eateries, food stalls, and shops. These lively areas serve as popular hangouts for both formal and casual meetups. You’ll find food streets and food parks bustling in major metropolitan areas across Pakistan.
The journey of food streets in Pakistan began with Gawalmandi Food Street in Lahore. Following its success, other renowned locations emerged, such as Melody Food Street and Blue Area in Islamabad, Burns Road in Karachi, the food street near Ghanta Ghar in Peshawar, Qissa Khwani Bazaar Food Street in Peshawar, and Anarkali Food Street in Lahore. In 2012, Lahore introduced Fort Road Food Street, situated near the iconic Badshahi Mosque and Lahore Fort.
Before the opening of Melody Food Street in Islamabad, the city's restaurants were scattered. Food streets have since gained immense popularity, especially among the middle class, as they offer a more budget-friendly dining experience compared to hotels or upscale restaurants.
