Parish of the Holy Sacrifice, Quezon City

The Parish of the Holy Sacrifice, commonly known as the Church of the Holy Sacrifice, stands as a spiritual and architectural beacon in the bustling city of Quezon City, Philippines. This church is not only a place of worship but also a recognized National Historical Landmark and a Cultural Treasure. It is renowned for its unique circular structure and for being the first circular chapel with a thin shell concrete dome in the country.

Built in 1955, the church's design was a collaborative effort among some of the most prominent Filipino artists and architects of the time. The architectural plan was conceived by National Artist for Architecture, Leandro Locsin, while the structural engineering was provided by Alfredo Juinio. Adding to its cultural significance, the murals and metalwork were created by Vicente Manansala and Ang Kiukok, who are both National Artists for Visual Arts, and the floor mural was designed by Arturo Luz, another National Artist.

The church was specifically designed for the University of the Philippines, Diliman campus, to cater to the spiritual needs of its students and faculty. Its open-air, fan-shaped structure allows for natural ventilation, a feature well-suited to the tropical climate of the Philippines. The altar, placed at the center of the structure, symbolizes the unity of the congregation around the Eucharist, reflecting the inclusive ethos of the university community.
