Dom Pastora, Łomża
Facts and practical information
Pastor's House - former parsonage of the now defunct Evangelical-Augsburg parish. The building is located at 1 Krzywe Koło Street in Lomza. In 1986 entered in the register of monuments under number A-238.
In 1853 the Administrative Council of the Kingdom of Poland gave the destroyed post-Jesuit church to Evangelicals from Lomza. With the financial support of, among others, the Consistory of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Warsaw and Empress Alexandra Fyodorowna, the church was renovated at a cost of 4600 rubles. At the turn of 1889 and 1890, a building was erected at the back of the church, which served as an Evangelical presbytery. The building was built by Pastor Kacper Mikulski from public contributions.
On May 24, 1899 in the parsonage building Jozef Pilsudski changed his religion and converted to the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in order to marry Maria Koplewska.
From 1981 to 2005, the building housed the North Mazovian Museum in Lomza. The town did not invest in the dilapidated and abandoned building, because the Evangelical-Augsburg parish from Pisz demanded its return. Once the house became the property of the town, a plan of renovation and an idea of its utilization appeared. After the renovation the Pastor's House is to be transformed into a cultural and tourist center.
Since November 2013, construction and renovation works were underway, which were completed in mid-2015. During the renovation, it was discovered that the building was erected on pre-existing stone foundations, which may date back as far as the 15th-16th centuries. The building now houses the "Pastor's House" Tourist and Cultural Activity Center.
