Pomnik Antoniego Abrahama, Gdynia
Facts and practical information
The monument to Antoni Abraham is located on Kaszubski Square in Gdynia's Śródmieście district. It depicts Antoni Abraham, a Kashubian activist.
The original plans to build a monument or a fountain commemorating the Kashubian activist already existed before the outbreak of World War II in the minds of Gdynia councilors. They were not realized. The decision to build the monument was made in 1995 on the initiative of the then president of Gdynia Franciszka Cegielska. The impulse for this decision was the initiative of the activists of the Kashubian-Pomeranian Association.
The monument is 4 meters high. Its pedestal bears the inscription "Antoni Abraham 1860-1923 Son of Kashubian Land - Fighter for its Polishness". The author of the monument is Stanislaw Szwechowicz.
