St. Anne's Church - a Neo-Romanesque, single-nave church, 640 m2 in area, built of pressed brick. The nave ended with a pentagonal chancel, to which two sacristies with choirs above are currently adjoined. The main entrance with a vestibule on the west side and two side entrances with smaller vestibules - on the south and north side, the tower of 26 m height covered with copper sheet. It is located at 24/26 Śmigłego-Rydza Avenue in Lodz.
The cornerstone was consecrated on May 24, 1904 by Archbishop Wincenty Teofil Chościak Popiel. The owner of a steam mill and a brickyard, Jozef Meisner donated the land for the construction of the church, as well as bricks and lime. The plans and cost estimate were drawn up by Pawel Rübensahm. Edward and Matilda Herbst donated the sum of 20 thousand rubles for the construction of the church. They also covered the costs of building the tower, 3 bells, tower clock, stairs for the choir and mosaic floor in the church.
Construction was completed in 1905. The church was consecrated on December 10, 1905 by Father Karol Szmidl, while the parish of St. Anne was erected on December 29, 1909 by Archbishop Wincenty Teofil Popiel.
Rev. Waclaw Wyrzykowski with the help of believers equipped the church with altars - the main and 2 side altars made of oak wood. In the main altar there is placed life-size figure of Lord Jesus with open heart, carved in wood and painted - made by Wincenty Bogaczyk. The figure is covered by a painting of St. Anne, done by Casimir Alchimovich. At the top of the altar there is an image of the Father God by the same artist and a sculpture of the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove. On either side, at the level of the image of God the Father, stand figures of angels, made of wood and painted. Below - on the level of the main image on both sides - life size figures of bishops - St. Wojciech and St. Stanislaw, carved in wood and painted, authors unknown.
In 1935, the church was restored. Eight stained glass windows and 2 stained glass windows of plain glass covered with heat-fixed decoration were placed in the windows, and 2 stained glass windows of antique glass were placed in the windows behind the main altar. A new stone baptismal font with a copper cover was purchased. In 1967-1968 the floor in the temple was replaced and central heating installed. A year later, an electrically driven catafalque was installed under the church floor. In 1971, two sacristies were added. In 1982, a stylish tabernacle was placed in the church. In 1983-1984 altars, pulpit, choir, organ and gothic confessionals were renovated, 4 brass chandeliers were installed. In 1991, the interior walls of the church and both sacristies were enclosed with spruce paneling and benches at these walls, and in 1998 all the platforms at the altars were replaced. In 1998, the roof boarding was replaced and covered with copper sheeting. In 1999, the foundations were repaired and a cement band was placed around the church, and a handicap ramp was constructed on the south side at the entrance to the porch. In 2000 the ceiling of the church was insulated with mineral wool 200 mm thick. In 2002 windows and rosettes in church were replaced, church was repainted and altar was renovated, wooden elements of interior were renovated. In 2003-2005, antique glass stained glass windows and rosettes were installed.
