Kamienny Most, Kraków
Facts and practical information
Diabelski Most - a historic structure, one of the objects of the Austrian Krakow Fortress. It is located in the western part of Krakow, in District VII, at the intersection of Malczewskiego Street and Washington Avenue in Zwierzyniec.
It is a road viaduct built by Austrian military engineers, ensuring collision-free traffic at the intersection of roads: access road to fort Kosciuszko and Rokada road.
In order to create a collision-free crossing, the road to the fort was laid on an embankment about 4 meters high. The bridge is built of limestone blocks and bricks. In 2010 the bridge was completely renovated with new stone retaining walls, a brick vault, brick railings and stone rainwater outlets.
The name of the bridge comes from a legend, according to which the devil Kusy would sometimes appear here at night, supposedly coming from somewhere around Blonia.
