Ławeczka Ireny Kwiatkowskiej, Ustka
Facts and practical information
Irena Kwiatkowska's bench in Ustka was created on the initiative of the City Hall using the surplus of the spa fee and the modernization of the Spa Park.
The bench was designed and made by Rafał Nowak, a sculptor from Poznań, in cooperation with Piotr Garstka, a sculptor and foundry worker, or, according to other sources, Piotr Garstka and Piotr Szmyt. The work on the monument began on November 15th, 2011, and already in January 2012 the bench was set up temporarily in one of the rooms of the Town Hall in Ustka. The monument on the seaside promenade was officially unveiled on July 25th.
The figure of Irena Kwiatkowska occupies the left side of the bench, while to the right there is room for two people. The bench itself resembles a roll of film tape.
Irena Kwiatkowska spent many summer vacations in Ustka and strolled along the seaside promenade. She died on 3 March 2011 in Skolimów.
