Type of reserve: geological and soil
Reserve subtype: tectonic and erosional formations

The reserve was established in order to preserve the rock outcrop, which presents an interesting fragment of the Hercynian tectonics of the Swietokrzyskie Mountains in the form of characteristic and strongly undulating limestone rocks, partly marl and marl shale of Kielce Fault as well as herbaceous and shrubby vegetation growing in the area.
The reserve comprises a geological profile exposed during the quarrying of stone, with a large collapsed rock fold showing tectonic processes, located within a non-excavated quarry in a part of Góra Ślichowicka, and the area surrounding it, comprising the excavations of the exploited quarry. The geological structure visible in the quarry is one of the better exposed examples of fold structures and therefore it is quite often referred to in literature and is the destination of relatively many didactic excursions.
The reserve is named after Jan Czarnocki, a geologist and researcher of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, who took action to protect this part of the quarry.
The reserve is part of Geopark Kielce.
The yellow walking trail around Kielce passes through the reserve.
