Górka Środulska, Sosnowiec
Facts and practical information
Środula Ski Slope - an artificial slope built in the Środula Park, created between 2002 and 2005 on the former State Agricultural Farm fields, transformed as part of the revitalization of post-mining areas with material from the liquidation of the former Sosnowiec mine waste dump. The general contractor of the object was the Maczki-Bór Sand Mine. The architectural design was done by Jurand Jarecki and Marek Gierlotka. About one million cubic meters of earth was used for the construction. The height of the highest point is almost 319.5 m above sea level.
Until 2010, leased to a private company, it functioned as Dolomity Sportowa Dolina 2. After being taken over by the city for a short period as Sportowa Dolina 2, it continued as the Recreation and Sports Complex at 51 3-go Maja St. to finally function under the name Ski Slope Środula. As a result of the termination of the contract by the city, the court ordered the payment of 3.9 million in damages; the amount due plus interest was collected from the city's accounts in 2016. In 2011, the slope was reopened by MOSIR Sosnowiec.
The slope also provides a vantage point that covers almost the entire area of Sosnowiec.
There are three ski runs on the slope: a large slope, length 450 m, elevation difference 50 m
medium slope, length 300 m, 50 m elevation difference
small slope, length 150 m, height difference 5 m
