Stilo Lighthouse

Perched on the edge of a cliff along the picturesque Baltic coast, the Stilo Lighthouse stands as a beacon of safety, guiding mariners through the perilous waters off the coast of Poland. This historic lighthouse, located near the village of Osetnik in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, is an emblem of maritime heritage and a testament to the enduring importance of navigational aids in maritime travel.

Constructed in 1906, the Stilo Lighthouse was built to ensure the safe passage of ships navigating the often treacherous waters of the Baltic Sea. With its towering height of 33.4 meters, the lighthouse provides a sweeping view of the surrounding sea and coast, offering a vantage point from which its light can be seen from a considerable distance.

The lighthouse's design is characterized by its red-brick construction, which stands in stark contrast to the verdant landscape and azure sea. It features a cylindrical shape that narrows towards the top, capped with a lantern room and gallery where the light source is housed. The light emitted by the Stilo Lighthouse can reach up to 24 nautical miles, an essential range for the safe navigation of the many vessels that traverse these waters.

While primarily a functional maritime structure, the Stilo Lighthouse has also become a popular tourist attraction. Visitors are drawn to its secluded location, historical significance, and the opportunity to climb to the top for panoramic views of the Baltic Sea and the surrounding countryside. The lighthouse remains operational and continues to serve as an active aid to navigation, managed by the Maritime Office in Gdynia.
