Kresy Museum in Lubaczów - a museum located in Lubaczów. The institution is an organizational unit of the district of Lubaczow.
The museum was established on the initiative of Wlodzimierz Czernecki - a local educator and community worker. Already before the World War II he started collecting exhibits. His activity led to opening of the Social Regional Museum in 1958, which was located in the building of the High School. In 1961 the collections were moved to a tenement house in Mickiewicza Street. Because of the difficulties associated with the functioning of the institution, in 1965 it was decided to transfer the museum to the management of the Polish Tourist Society, which took over the institution in 1967. Until 1981 it functioned under the name of Regional Museum PTTK; in that year it was nationalized.
In 1986 the collections of the museum were moved to the historic granary, which dates back to the 18th century. The official opening of the institution in the new premises took place in September 1987. In the years 1994-1998 the museum included the historic castle and park complex with the manor area.
In 1999 the museum was taken over by the local government of the district of Lubaczow. In 2004 the name of the museum was changed to the Borderlands Museum in Lubaczow. In 2010 the museum took over the buildings of the Orthodox Church of St. Paraskeva in Radruż.
At present, within the framework of permanent exhibitions, the museum presents the collections: historical, covering the history of the town and land of Lubaczow, starting from the most ancient times until the end of the 20th century, ethnographic, showing the folk culture of the town and its surroundings, art, covering the collection of Sarmatian portrait painting and borderland culture - sacral painting and sculpting, connected with the rites: Catholic, Greek Catholic and Judaism. In addition, the museum has a collection of contemporary Polish art by such artists as Maria Jarema, Erna Rosenstein, Zdzislaw Beksinski, Jacek Waltos, Kazimierz Mikulski, and Teresa P±gowska.
The museum is a year-round facility, open except Mondays. There is an admission fee.
