Cmentarz wojenny nr 60 - Pętna
Facts and practical information
War Cemetery No. 60 - Pêtna - an Austrian war cemetery from World War I built by the War Graves Division of the C. and K. Military Commandery in Krakow on the territory of its district I Zmigrod.
It is located on the Małastowska Pass in the western part of Pętna hamlet of the village of Małastów, situated in the Małopolska province, in the district of Gorlice, in the municipality of Sękowa.
Designed by Dušan Jurkovič. It is located near the chalet. In the axis of the cemetery there is a wooden chapel with a copy of the image of Our Lady of Czestochowa and an inscription plaque that reads : "Remember in your happy days,/ That on this earth a fierce battle was blazing,/ That here thousands suffered mortal wounds,/ That the blessing of the sun may blossom around you". 174 Austro-Hungarian soldiers were buried here.
The cemetery has been renovated many times, not always carefully, and now lacks all of its original features - usually Jews were buried in separate, denominational cemeteries. This is a copy, erected in 2003 in place of the original, which was not restored during one of the renovations.
