Facts and practical information
Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola - a museum based in the Lubomirski Palace in Rozwadów, a district of Stalowa Wola.
Attempts of establishing a museum institution in Rozwadów and Stalowa Wola lasted for a long time. There were opened, among others, exhibitions illustrating history of metallurgy in Stalowa Wola or attempts of establishing a regional museum in the Capuchins' monastery in Rozwadów. That institution came into being in 70s of 20th century thanks to initiative of Fr Wilhelm Gaj-Piotrowski and acceptance of then superiors of the monastery Fr Edmund Haracz and Fr Stanislaw Padewski. This museum survived for several years.
Only after 1989 it was possible to think about creation of a real museum institution in Stalowa Wola. Social Committee for Founding of the Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola was set up in January 1995. Collections of a known historian of the region Revd Dr hab. Wilhelm Gaj-Piotrowski became a kind of founding capital of the future museum. The collections of ethnography, history and art of the Lower Silesia region, which consisted of several thousand exhibits, were handed over to the emerging institution in a ceremonial act. On 30 October 1997 the Town Council in Stalowa Wola established and gave the statute to the Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola. Originally the seat of that institution were hospitable rooms of the Municipal House of Culture in Stalowa Wola. Since 2002 the seat became renovated neo-classical Lubomirski Castle in Rozwadów, built in years 1782-1786.
Lucyna Mizera was the director of the museum from its inception until 2021. Currently, this position is held by Aneta Garanty.
