Museum of the Glory of Polish Arms in Witnica - a private museum in Witnica. Its founder and owner was a retired colonel Czesław Chmielewski.
During World War II, Czesław Chmielewski served in the ranks of the 15th Infantry Regiment. During the fighting near Budziszyn, he was seriously wounded. As a result of the lack of information about his fate, he was considered missing and then deceased. Meanwhile, he was rescued by Soviet medics and transported to the rear.
In the 1970s, he learned from Kazimierz Kaczmarek's book "Across Three Borders" about his alleged death and that he had been awarded the Virtuti Militari Order. "During a visit to Zgorzelec, he found a tombstone with his name on it. During a visit to Zgorzelec, he found a tombstone with his name on it in the local military cemetery. Then, as a tribute to his fallen comrades-in-arms, he decided to create a museum of military memorabilia.
The museum collections are divided into sections: Polish Army 1919-1939, Polish Armed Forces, People's Army of Poland and Contemporary Armed Forces. The exhibits include weapons, uniforms, equipment, maps, documents, photographs and decorations of the Polish Army. Of particular interest is the collection of original uniforms worn by Warsaw insurgents. In the courtyard there are armaments: cannons, howitzers and anti-aircraft guns.
