Facts and practical information
St. Lawrence Church in Radymno - a historic church located within the parish of St. Lawrence in Radymno in the Archdiocese of Przemyśl.
Built in the years 1724-1730 on the initiative of Bishop of Przemyśl Aleksander Antoni Fredro. The temple was consecrated by Rev. Andrzej Pruski. It is a brick building in the Baroque style. Near the church there is a bell tower from 1729, historic presbytery and the building of the congregation of Servant Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary In 1891 the church was thoroughly renovated and decorated. During World War I, on October 21, 1914 around 3 p.m. the roof of the church together with the tower caught fire as a result of an artillery shell and burned down within two hours. After the war it was renovated.
Beginning with the end of World War II, work was carried out to beautify the church. In 1953, Father Franciszek Michalec informed the curia that the St. Nicholas altar had been repaired, and one voice for a new organ had been purchased. In 1958, the front of the church and the bell tower were thoroughly repaired. The historic doors of the church were also restored. The end of the 1950s was marked by preparations for painting a new polychrome in the church. Pastor Franciszek Michalec had already begun, but he did not carry out his plan to the end, as he had to leave the parish. His work was taken over by a new parish priest, Father Ludwik Dyszyñski, who took over the parish on August 5, 1959. In October 1959, the parish priest of Radymno asked the bishop's curia for permission to paint the church according to the project of painter Stanis³aw Jakubczyk. After receiving the permission, the work began. On December 6, 1960 Bishop Franciszek Barda, the Ordinary of Przemysl, in the presence of numerous clergymen and believers consecrated the new polychrome. In 1961 a new metal tabernacle was bought and made by Przemysl goldsmith Wladyslaw Rosolowski. The consecration was performed by Bishop Stanislaw Jakiel on May 7, 1962. A week later during the visitation of the parish the Ordinary of Przemyśl consecrated three new bells made by Jan Felczyński from Przemyśl: "Wawrzyniec" - 1200 kg, "Maria" - 700 kg and "Mikołaj" - 300 kg. In 1963 the altar of Our Lady was gilded and a year later the organ was repaired. Within a few years, four altars, including the main one, and the pulpit were renovated.
In 1995 the church was covered with a new roof made of copper. In 1997 the main altar was renovated. Since 2006 the church sound system was replaced, modern heating installed, the altar of St. Agnes and the altar of St. Nicholas renovated.
