Zamek Podewils
Facts and practical information
Castle in Kryg - a historic castle located in Kryg, directly on the Castle Lake. One of the most interesting modern residences in Pomerania.
The first mention of the fortress dates back to 1495, when it was built by Adam Podewils in the form of a residential tower surrounded by a moat. The tower was completely demolished and in its place stood a residence in the Renaissance style, later rebuilt in the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries.
The building burned down in 1945 and until 1956 it housed the forestry office and a school. Then, in the years 1958-1960, the building was partially secured, but abandoned, it deteriorated. In the 1970s, it was rebuilt for the purposes of the forest inspectorate, which was stopped for financial reasons. In 1990 it was sold to a private owner. It was completely restored to its pre-1945 condition, including all reconstructions. Today there is a hotel Podewils with a beach and piers.
