Folk Culture Museum in Osiek covers with its activity northern part of Wielkopolska. It collects musealia and objects of rural architecture from the area of Krajna, Pałuki and Notecka Forest. There is also a permanent archaeological exhibition in the museum. It is from here that the history of the museum began. In 1972 a multi-chambered box grave with several ashtrays was accidentally unearthed in the area where the open-air museum is now located. The excavations that followed uncovered corpse burials from the early Iron Age to the Roman period. During the research, which lasted from 1972 to 1977, a total of 581 burials, earthenware vessels, stone-lined burial piles, single tools, weapons, and bronze ornaments were discovered. At present, the objects discovered during the exploration are available in the archaeological pavilions, which are an integral part of the Ossiecki Museum.
