Facts and practical information
Karpniki Castle - a castle located in the village of Karpniki in the Lower Silesian province, Karkonosze county, Mysłakowice municipality, at the foot of Krzyżna Mountain in the Rudawy Janowickie Mountains.
The castle was probably built in the 14th century by Henry Czirn, the owner of Płonina and Sokolec. In the following centuries the castle was rebuilt several times, and its present look comes from 1846, when it was designed by German architect Friedrich August Stüler using designs by his teacher, Karl Friedrich Schinkel, during his stay in Karpniki in 1832. In 1978 the castle was adapted for use as a holiday resort, and later as a sanatorium for children. Today the building is privately owned and operated as a hotel and restaurant.
