Pałac w Bobrku
Facts and practical information
Bobrek Castle - one of the now defunct castles in Poland. Its construction dates back to the 14th century, and its founder was probably King Casimir III the Great. The manor was small, rectangular with one tower. It was surrounded by a moat 10 m deep. It was built in the place of a castle, burnt probably in the 13th century. It probably had a small chapel. Destroyed in 1532, later rebuilt. It was extended in the 15th century. Destroyed in a fire in 1589, rebuilt in 1590. In 1595 the castle, located in the Silesian district of the Cracow province, was owned by Mikołaj Ligęza, castellan of Wiślica. It was demolished in 1656. Then it started to fall into ruins more and more. The ruins survived until the 17th century, when they were pulled down and a palace was built, which was rebuilt after the destruction after World War II.
