The parish of St. Barbara in Gora belongs to the Archdiocese of Katowice and the deanery of Miedzna. It was established on December 20, 1957.

In November 1598, the church inspection of the Pszczyna deanery was conducted by the archdeacon of Krakow, Krzysztof Kazimirski, commissioned by bishop Jerzy Radziwiłł. According to the report made, the church in Villa Gora was in the hands of Calvinists.
